Library Research Workshops: EBSCOhost Databases

Q & A

Q. Is it better to search with or without a hyphen/dash?
A. If you use a dahs, EBSCOhost databases will search for the phrase both with and without the dash, so might try using it to get more results.

Q. Is EBSCOhost useful for people in all programs?
A. Most programs will find Academic Search Complete useful as a secondary database because it is interdisciplinary and thus covers a wide range of fields. However, for some topics, you'll find some of the other EBSCOhost databases more useful, such as Business Source Elite for industrial organizational fields, or Health Source for medical topics, etc.

Q. How do I save my searches?
A. I apologize for neglecting to cover this in the workshop! Please see the Search History tab in the EBSCOhost Library Guide for a step-by-step tutorial of saving your searches.

Q. Where can I find general info on what services are available & how to best use them?
A. Start on on the main library homepage. On the left of the screen, notice a list of "Subjects". These are all the types of programs we have at Adler. Click on the one which relates most to your program, which will show you the various program guides. Click on your program guide. The program guides gives a list of al the services & resources we have at the library. You're also welcome to drop into the Zoom drop-in hours or make a General Library Appointment (using the links to the left on this page) and my student workers can give you a brief intro to the library.
