Center for Learning and Teaching: Tutors & Workshops

Adler University writing consultants and peer tutors work with students to refine and improve their academic writing, internship applications, cover letters, and resumes. Each consultant has a specialty but can also work with any student from any campus, on any writing project.

Writing workshops for the Fall 2022 semester can be found here.

John Hawkins, Adler writing consultant

John C. Hawkins is an experienced writing center tutor and college instructor in English literature and composition with research concentrations in animal studies and feminist theory. Along with the mechanics of good academic writing, John works with students on issues of writing anxiety, writer's block, and how to approach assignments.

John specializes in helping students through the dissertation writing process and is available to work with students from any campus over Zoom.  Contact John at jhawkins@adler.edu to set up an appointment.

Sinan Uluc, Adler writing consultant

Sinan Uluc has worked as a writing consultant, university teaching assistant, ESL instructor, and translator for 15 years. For Sinan, writing consultation is an open dialogue that helps students develop as writers. He poses his feedback as questions to help lead students to become more effective writers, and approaches papers holistically, focusing first on organization, persuasion, and clarity.

Sinan specializes in helping students from all Adler students who use English as a second or as a foreign language.  He can meet in person with students in Vancouver, or over Zoom with students from any campus. Contact Sinan at suluc@adler.edu.

Isabel Cunningham, peer writing tutor
