Books on reserves

This document is a work in progress.

Course Reserves

The Course Reserves collection provides free access to required course texts for students in both on-ground and online academic departments. Providing library-licensed, library purchased, or open access materials ensures equitable access to educational materials and eases students’ financial burdens.

When you submit your booklist to the library, the library will:

  • Check whether the library has existing electronic or physical access to an item,
  • Purchase unlimited access e-books or other resources if they are available for library licensing,
  • Place a physical copy of required texts on reserve at the Mosak Library, when electronic access is not available

Course books on reserves

Why is my book not on reserves?

  • We place books on reserve based on the list you send to the library.
  • Lists must be updated each semester.
  • If a patron already had the book checked out, the book must be recalled before it can be placed on reserve. This process can take time.
  • If the library does not already own the book, we will try to order it. We cannot guarantee how quickly it will arrive.
  • If the book is out of print, we cannot order it.
  • If the book is an undergraduate textbook, it is against our policy to order it.

My book is not on reserves - what can I do?

  • Email the library as soon as possible and let us know which books are missing.
  • Add your personal copy of a book to reserves. Write your name in the book and bring it to the library. We will temporarily add it to reserves.
