Library resources including journal articles, books, and streaming video can be valuable resources for your teaching, professional development, and scholarship. The library provides Adler University faculty with access to dozens of databases, thousands of journals, and hundreds of thousands of ebooks. We hope you will explore our collections and take advantage of the resources available to you.

Finding a Specific Article by Title

Finding Full Text of an Article

On the main library homepage, search for the title of the article.
In the results, find the article you need. You may need to check that the author, journal, and/or publication date match the citation you have.
Click on the article title to see all options for accessing the article text.
If there are one or more links in the View Online section, click on a link to be taken to the full text.
If there are no links in the View Online section, Sign In to view request options. Use Request Item to request the article via ILLiad (Interlibrary Loan).

Finding Journals

Search by Journal

Searching by journal can be helpful when searching for articles within a specific journal title or when looking for the entirety of a journal issue.

On the main library homepage, click on the Journal Titles tab of the search box, then search for the title of the journal. Note that you cannot search journals by keyword, so you must first identify the exact title of the journal you want to look for.
In the results, find the journal you need. Note that journals may have similar names and that journals often change names over time. You may need to check the publisher or other information to confirm you have the correct journal.
Click on the article title to see all options for accessing the article text.
- The View Online section will show any options for accessing articles in the journal online, often through library databases. Note that the dates available for access may be different in each database. In some databases access will not include the most recent 1 year of content due to licensing restrictions.
- The Get It section will offer options for accessing the journal in print, either at Adler campus libraries or through I-Share. Print holdings are often used to provide access to older material that is not available online.
To access content online, click on a database or collection in the View Online section. Each database will have their own interface for accessing the journal content, but most will provide a way to browse the journal by year, volume, and issue as well as search within the journal.

Finding and Accessing Books and Book Chapters

Find Books in the Library Catalog

On the main library homepage, search for a book by title, keyword, or author. You can search by ISBN but it is not recommended as you may not get accurate results.
On the results page, use the Resource Type limiter on the right side of the screen to limit your results by book and/or book chapter. Note that resource types will be presented in order based on the number of results of that type in the search so you may have to look carefully to find books and/or book chapters in the list.
Find the book or book chapter you're interested in. If you are looking for a specific title, be sure to check the publication date, edition, and other information to ensure you have the correct title.
Click on the book title to see all options for accessing the text.
- Books that are available online will have a link to a database or ebook collection in the View Online section of the book record.
- Books that are available in print will have access options shown in the Get It section. Books owned by Adler will have information on the campus and collection they are in as well as their availability status. Books available through I-Share will show which colleges have copies of the text.
- Sign in for options to request a local copy or request a title through I-Share.

Finding Streaming Video

Find Videos in the Library Catalog

On the main library homepage, search for a video by topic, keyword, title, or series.
On the results page, use the Resource Type limiter on the right side of the screen to limit your results to Videos. Note that resource types will be presented in order based on the number of results of that type in the search so you may have to look carefully to find Videos in the list.
To limit to streaming videos, use the Availability limiter to select Available Online.
Click on the video title to learn more about the video and see all options for accessing it.
- Videos that are available online will have a link to a database or ebook collection in the View Online section of the record.
- Videos available in a physical format will have access options shown in the Get It section. Videos owned by Adler will have information on the campus and collection they are in as well as their availability status.
