How Can I Tell if an Article is Scholarly?

All scholarly articles contain these structural features:

  1. Authors who write scholarly articles are subject experts who have academic affiliations.
  2. Abstract - a summary of the research question, key methods, results, and conclusions of the study is provided.
  3. Length - no set rule, but usually over eight pages and includes related technical diagrams, charts, or graphs.
  4. Bibliography - always has a list of cited works that the author consulted.
