Faculty Development at Adler strives to enable faculty thrive at every career stage by providing development opportunities that offer professional support, foster excellence, and build community. Our faculty development resources, programs, and priorities are grounded in Adler's mission, the five values that flow from it (i.e., equity, excellence, social interest, courage, and pragmatism) and its current strategic plan, Building Community for Social Justice. We work collaboratively with several departments to provide various options, and we welcome faculty input.

Legal Issues and College Admissions Interviews Training (required): 

Julie Proscia, Adler’s General Counsel, will lead a virtual training on Adler’s admissions interview processes for prospective students. The training is designed to ensure that our interview processes for prospective students remain fair and equitable. It is required for all core faculty. 

Please plan to attend one of hour-long sessions on Feb. 11, noon CST/10 a.m. PST or Feb. 12, 2 p.m. CST/noon PST. 


The Art and Science of Graduate Advising: Strategies for Success

In response to student feedback, Academic Affairs is offering this skill-building and resource-sharing session. A panel of Adler faculty will discuss the multifaceted dynamics of graduate advising.

Through dialogue framed by specific questions, faculty will delve into strong practices, challenges, and approaches to fostering successful advisor-student relationships. They will share insights into fostering effective communication, supporting students' academic and professional success, and navigating inclusivity.


CARLI OER for Faculty Series: Open Pedagogy Workshop

When you use open pedagogy in your classroom, you are inviting students to be part of the teaching process, participating in the co-creation of knowledge. In this workshop, you will learn the definition and context of Open Pedagogy, view innovative examples being applied in a variety of subjects and formats, and work with other attendees to create an assignment that you can use in your own class.

Faculty Learning Management System Training: Starting the Path – Chapter 1: Getting Cozy in Canvas

Introducing the Canvas training series from the Educational Design and Innovation (EDI) team.

This series marks the beginning of integrating Canvas into regular use at Adler. Blended learning enhances face-to-face interaction by incorporating online resources and activities, creating engaging, accessible, and inclusive courses. This approach increases responsiveness to students and frees up more time for meaningful discussions as logistical elements move online.


In this interactive 1-hour training, we’ll cover some fundamentals of Canvas.
